Why College Is So Expensive In America

Definitely this is a question that I asked myself so many times while I too was in college. This does not make any sense. When we were in elementary and high school I don’t remember it costing nearly twenty plus thousand a semester just to earn a eight grade diploma and a high school diploma.

My wife and I were having a conversation last year about the cost of school. She told me that her co-worker had mentioned during their conversation that she believes in the next five years or so that children will not be going to college anymore. I told my wife that I agree with her co-worker.

1) I believe this because school is a business and like any other business they have laws, policies, rules, regulations and procedures in place to gaurd their assets; having the companies best interest in heart not the other way around. 2) The kids have so much talent and potential that their mindset is why go spend an additional 5 years in school slowing down my earning potential. Alot of this kids have gifts and talents that are showing at a young age and they’re looking at the situation as a waste of time getting a degree in fields of study that they have no interest in seeking out work. We live in a time where people are becoming successful through Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube. They say that all they need to succeed is right at their fingers. 3) The kids are realizing that most of the conventional crap that is taught in schools are lies and there won’t be much use for it in the real world. So why spend time stressing to learning something that won’t be used? I mean let’s be honest here have you ever used thermodynamics, quantum physics, and philosophy to solve any problems in life? And to be honest I don’t blame the younger generation for feeling this way.

Schools should be teaching the children how to balance a check book, learning trades. Where are the entrepreneurships that existed back in the 70s, 80s and 90s? These things taught young men and women trades.  Also schools should be teaching kids how to avoid debt, but they can’t do that if loans are attached to the financial aid that a child recieves. I used to hear in school from teachers that a student shouldn’t have debt. If a student graduates with 40,000 in debt and their first job annual income is 38,000 a year than they are doing something wrong.

What the, you gotta be kiddin me right. Are you serious. That don’t even sound right. How in the world can students avoid debt when the financial aid has loans (subsidized and unsusidized) attached to them. And here’s the thing. I’m going to tell you a secret, places like Sallie Mae, navient corporations, great lakes higher education and others loan places have already attached hundreds of dollars onto the loans that you or your parents have taken out whether parent plus loan or a student loan like a graduate loan. They are charging you already like if you missed payments or threw the loan into deferment. They like to lie and give you a paper stating that this is what your projected payback will be once you graduate that’s a lie you’re being charged now. So as you get higher in education so does your loans.

It’s sad because there is nothing wrong with getting a education and just simply bettering yourself. The problem is this,

1) students if you are using colleges to find yourself and leave parents or gaurd house because you are tierd of their rules. Stop now and don’t even use you and your parents/gaurdians social security number to get financial aid. All you are doing is dragging yourself and your parents down a long dark debt whole. You don’t have to select some expensive 4 year mega University to find yourself. You can go to a junior college where you won’t be in debt, spend thousands of dollars and a junior college will pay you to attend school. Just to figure something out that you can do for free.

2) college students stop changing your major if you don’t know what you want to study in college don’t go and declare b.a. or b.s. just do your general education because the financial aid place is keeping a close eye on you and how much money of theirs that you are using and are just switching majors. They will penalize you for this.

3) Since many are already in college swimming up to their eyeballs in debt do this. Stop getting your refund check from the financial aid office spending it on partying, liquor, spring vacations, the expensive college apartments, cars, expensive clothes. If some of you have a campus or off campus job don’t even use your checks to do the same.

Instead, Drum roll please.

Be wise and use that money to pay off a portion of your loans while currently in college. You can call the number of your loan provider and ask to be on a payment plan as little as $50-80 dollars and you can be paying pretty much the interest rate off your loans so that way you won’t have to later on in life be burden with paying $860 dollars or higher. It’s no fun in partying and having fun and being broke.

4) Don’t let anyone sholve down your throats “that you need to go to college and you need to be college material.” No you don’t. Why in the world would you go to a place that promises you that if you earn a degree when you graduate you will have a 6 figure salary paying job and get to do everything you always have dreamed of. That’s, that’s a lie from the pits of hell. Most colleges kids are still left searching for work in their field of study that they have majored in. They don’t tell you that most of the fields of studies in school don’t even exist in the job market anymore.

College is just like working a 9 to 5 job. IT’S NOT FOR EVERYONE. Some of you have gifts, talents, and abilities that are shining through. Go and build your own business. Be your own Brand. Cultivate what you know and have. Don’t subject yourself to this rat race called jobs and careers. Answer to noone.

Jump: is there more to life

What it do,

I am guilty myself of this. I was once was caught up in this as well. I thought that gifts were singing, dancing, jumping and dunking adrinking a ball. I found out later in life that those are talents. That is not a gift. Some of my friends and myself used to think that the only way to be successful was through being a athlete or a rapper. My friends really didn’t come to terms with this and God bless them I hope that they make it. However, I always wondered was there more to life? The most high was pulling on me letting me know every step that he has placed more in me. That what I wanted was becoming a idol and blocking me from my true gifts. Anywho enough about me I just thought that this my be something of a eye opener for others out there search, questioning and wondering “Is there more to life.”

Don’t keep wondering, find out
