You don’t have to prove yourself all time. The people that want to always engage in competition to prove whose the best don’t believe that they have it. They are insecure and their perception of who they are, what they are and why they are is not at the level that it needs to be. They have this belief that if they can beat those around them who display self confidence and are secure in who they are. They have accomplished something. Don’t fall for the trick and trap. Stay confident and secure in who you are that you keep your mind on accomplishing what you need and got to do and avoid trying to prove something to a bunch of individuals that are on your level and don’t matter.
My dad called me earlier today. He want to hear my voice and we started having a conversation over the phone. We were talking about a recent situation that makes us both wonder what is going on with some people. We sometimes wonder what be going through people’s minds. We love people but sometimes we just don’t know.
My dad said something powerful to me. He said hey, hey, Shaun let’s not even go there. Let’s not bring up old bricks. I want you to listen to me. Listen to me very well. If you bring up old bricks from the past all you are going to do is build a bad future.
You know most people, not everyone but most people can’t seem to get over themselves or whatever occurred in their past. If it was their fault or not. They have a hard time letting go and moving on. It’s important that you do so. Because holding onto old crap will cause you not to obtain new life, growth, a better mindset, etc.
We walk around with this programming that our past defines our future. I’m here to say that it does not. Yes, what you do or don’t do today can affect tomorrow. However that’s only if you allow the mistakes that you have made to stay the same. If you don’t correct and learn from what caused you to stumble or make your life go a certain way. Then yeah, your life will never change. It will remain the same. But that’s only and I can’t stress this enough. That’s only if you don’t make the proper adjustments.
So take my dad’s advice don’t build a new house with old bricks. It won’t last.
In the book of Proverbs starting at the 6th chapter beginning at verse 6 through 8. It says, 6) Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise 7) Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8) Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
When I came across this Instagram image I instantly thought about how a ant operates off of hard work. All year around the ants are working together as a team to prepare for the next winter. They understand the times and how the seasons change. They know that if they are caught unprepared for the next winter without food. Their colony won’t survive.
It’s amazing how ants operate. They don’t waste time. They don’t make excuses. They just keep busy and focus. Hey, do you know or have anyone in your life everytime you look around they are always caught unprepared for what’s coming next. It’s almost like if they need to be reminded of the times that they are living in. Its almost like if they don’t have a vision, goal, plan and is unmotivated. They’re just living day to day. Or just going with the flow. It’s almost like if they are just waiting to hear a special word or message that will light a fire under them to move and persuade them to handle what they know that they should be handling regardless of what’s going on.
Consider the ant because they are well aware of what to expect every year. It doesn’t matter if we really get a winter with lots of snow and bitter freezing temperatures or not. They are well prepared anyway.
Why? Well ants are in tune with what’s taking place. Ants see what’s going on. Ants understand that their vision, plan and goal every year is the survival of their colony. Ants understand what they do or dont do today will affect tomorrow. Ants don’t complain. Ants don’t slack off. Ants don’t take their life for granted. Ants see the time that they do have as valuable time to gather and prepare.
Ants, they work hard but most importantly they work smart. They don’t wait till the last minute to start gathering. The ants put in that hard work all 12 months. Now when the winter comes and they are under ground eating and keeping warm. Them the party begins.
Two things to take away
1) Work hard but mostly work smart
2) Don’t be afraid to cut fun off to handle your business.
(Fun now, suffer later. Commitment and preparation now, enjoy the fruits of your labor later).
Never settle, never gamble with yourself. Life is about changing, evolving becoming better each day. Always challenge yourself to do more and go further. Never settle for where you are. There is more out there if you want it.
In other words there’s going to be turbulence along the way but just remember that this is necessary in order for you to ascend to higher altitudes.
Don’t see the wind as something that is stopping you. Rather see the wind as something that’s testing you to see if you’re ready for the altitude that you are created for.
Just thought to share this from Twitter this morning. There’s alot of our youth out here wondering if there’s a plan and purpose for their life other than suffering, conflict and confusion. You are created for more. You have to place yourself around those that are going somewhere in life. Ask questions, research. You never know unless you search what you desire. As long as you have breath in your body there is always hope.
