MARATHON Your Way To Success

Runners take your position.

On your mark

Get set

And……. The gun goes off

You’ll be surprised how many people quit before the gun go off. The race has started and there are people still at the start line in a runner’s stance. Here’s some irony, that ribbon at the finish line. You know the one that gets split in half when the race has been completed. It’s spilt in two but no one ran or finished the race.

If no one started running then why is the race already finished? Check this out…..

1) Seen the end from the beginning

Don’t be so concerned with finishing the race. While finishing what you started is important. Your attention and focus should be on the journey, where and how you begin. The consequence for looking that far causes fear. You scare yourself because you get a glimpse of what you will have to endure. The trials and tribulations that you will face every mile in this race will frighten you.

Do not do this because you are not ready to handle those challenges just yet. You are building and are not fully matured mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually for what this marathon will throw at you as you progress in miles. Do not get ahead of yourself. There’s nothing wrong with taking your time. This is all new and you do not know what to expect. So try this instead, take it one mile at a time. Take every quarter mile serious. Allow yourself to develop endurance and stamina. Allow yourself to establish the correct footing on how you should run this race. Use every quarter mile as a way to prepare you for the next mile.

2) Showed up to the marathon unprepared

Did you train? Now I know that there are no exercises in the world that can prepare you for life. No excuses. You still have to show up ready. This is how you do it, “make up your mind.” First come to the race with a made up mind that you will start your race. Second what are you racing for? Do you have something that is of value and importance to you? What in your life are you seeking victory in? Next remember what you told yourself. Use that as motivation throughout the race to keep going. Don’t wait until you run through the ribbon with your hands raised high to make up your mind. Do it before the race begins.

3) Stop looking at others

This reminds me of a sporting event and you have two teams preparing to play each other. However, you have one team on the end of the field or court going through their drills with their coach’s. They look prepared mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. The whole team is coordinated from gear to skills. Now the other team is supposed to be doing the same and going through their drills preparing for their match up. But they are caught watching the other team. They took their focus off of what they showed up to the game to do and became invested in what the other team is going to do. Here’s the thing it is known in sports and in life for people to make a scene and advertise what they are capable of. But they are doing that while no one is competing against them. They are doing that where there is no pressure place upon them to stay the course. You can not get caught staring because this is a intimidating tactic used to place fear into the opponent head. Getting you to doubt in your skills, talents and abilities. Getting you to question why you are even there. You don’t belong. This is used as a psychological deploy Beating you before the game, life even begins. Stop letting fear have your game in it’s back pocket.

It can be very intimidating to be around others who seem like they got it together. They look like they been there and done that. They dressed the part and look the part. They came with headbands, special sneakers, water bottles, customized shirts, etc. Remember this is a singles race. Yes, you like everyone else is at the marathon getting ready to run the race of a life time. However, they have their own reasons for being in the race just like you do. At the end of the day it does not matter how prepared someone looks on the outside. What matters is how prepared someone is on the inside. That’s what wins the race.

4) Entered the marathon with a unrealistic mindset

You may have entered the marathon thinking that this was going to be easy. Thinking that you are going to zip through the race and some how finish first. There is nothing wrong with you being confident. However, let’s be realistic if this is your first time going after what you want. What you deserve. You don’t know what road blocks lies ahead. So many times when you go into a situation with a unrealistic mindset it can cause a setback. You may say to yourself dang, i thought it was going to be easier than this. Or I didn’t imagine it to be this way. This can cause you to give up and throw in the towel. Just because your expectations didn’t match the reality of the situation. So you may want to caution yourself and observe the track at every turn, dip and bumps in the road. You don’t want to go in a all out sprint and twist an ankle and can’t carry on. Look this is a marathon not a sprint. You must pace yourself. You’re in this race for a lifetime not a few minutes. You must focus on running this race and being both efficient and proficient as you possibly can to equal your overall effectiveness in this marathon.

5) Pace yourself

Don’t worry you will be victorious one-day. You will run through that ribbon with the hands held high knowing that you succeed. You know alot of times we GPS a destination to see how many miles and how much time is projected for us to travel. Once we see that it will take us longer to walk then drive. We set course to our destination. However we never consider that just because traveling by car may be faster than walking. The GPS does not change the road conditions, hazards that you will stumble across while traveling to the destination. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Think about it.

6) What’s your expectations for yourself

Stop walking around telling people what to expect from you. When you don’t expect it from yourself. When you do this you’re giving people a preview of what’s to come and if you are not going to live up to the words you speak do say anything at all. You have placed a expectation on your shoulders that people are going to remember, question you about and are looking forward to seeing. If you are not serious and just like to say things because you hope that the praise and approval of others will elevate you to going forth and doing. I’m here to tell you don’t. You are going to embarrass yourself and lose all creditability.

For example, you know when these studios put out these movie previews and the trailers look dope. I mean the story, the plot, action, music, drama, suspense all rolled up into one film. Then it’s opening day and you go to the theater and the movie is a flop. You feel like you lost 2 hours off your life that you can’t get back. The studios let you down, they got your hopes up just to watch something that the previews were better than the movie. You want your money.

Now the same studios that put out a terrible movie may try to redo the movie over or come out with something new. But it will be harder to promote because the studios lost some if not most of it’s viewers trust. You see trailer flash across the TV screen. The first thing you are going to do is think back to the last let down. You may even say if the last movie was trash why are they remaking another. Or it ain’t going to be good. The studios lost creditability with it’s fans and they lost creditability with themselves as a company that can make blockbuster films. So you are not going to invest your hard earned money, energy, time or effort in trying to go see another movie.

Think about it

7) Fear

Let that fear go. You can, shall and will make it to that finish line. Even if you have to crawl to the finish line. You will be able to say you did it. Helpful tip, don’t be afraid of something that you never started. It is very easy to be afraid of something that is precieved as impossible. However I encourage you to try and watch what was once impossible becomes possible to do.

8) Differentiate

Simply put stay focus. Keeping this marathon in it’s proper perspective. Winning the marathon is the goal. Staying the course, enduring the trials and tribulations, remaining focus, having that stamina to not quit, determined, consistent and hungry is the objective.

9) Keep the faith

I can do all things through Mashiach (Messiah) which strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

But Yahusha(Christ) beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with Yahuah(God) all things are possible.

Matthew 19:26

10) Go get it

In life no one is going to hand you anything. No one will lay down and allow you to walk on by and grab what’s rightfully yours. You are a man/women you have to take it “go get it.” Don’t reach, don’t ask, but take it. You were granted anything inside world, anything that you imagine you can possess.

Remember you are in competition with no one but yourself

What are some reasons why you haven’t begun your marathon?

Weeping may endure for a night, but….

What it do

Yo, there is a gospel song by Donald Lawrence and tri-city singers titled “The best.” The line that they sing is key to life, “weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.”

Man, Everytime I hear that line I wondered how many people are out of their season of weeping and in their season of joy and are still weeping. My dad says it best, “YOU KEEP HOLDING ON TO YOUR PAST, YOU WON’T HAVE A FUTURE.” Why we do this?

1) Well most of the time we don’t have a strategy to overcome adversity.

You gotta deal with adversity. Yes, problems, situations arise that are out of your control. These situations come in ways that one could never image. But it’s not the adversity that’s the problem. How you handle adversity is the problem. Look, there is no way around it or under it. You must go through it. Courage is the key. When trouble comes your way you have to stand tall, be firm don’t waver or move. Stare into the eye of that Strom and let the storm know that it swang and gave its best shot, but its best was not good enough. Now it’s your turn.

For example, a palm tree can not be broken or torn to piece. Yes in storms it bends and sways back and forth. But, it can never be moved it is firm and sturdy, never up rooted.

Think about it.

2) Maybe we don’t understand that we are to let go and learn from the situation not hang on.

Letting go of situations and things that have deeply hurt you is hard to do. Man, sometimes it feels like you need a intervention. I challenge and encourage you to step back and anaylze that these hurts that you are holding on to is doing more harm then any good. You are not getting the lesson out of your pain because you are constantly focusing on the negative. DO NOT keep remembering the hurt because you will be only keeping it around as a means to get even and stay relevant. Yes I said, staying relevant. Alot of hurt people keep holding on to hurt because they feel that a piece of them was lost in that particular time. Don’t do this, it is pointless. Instead seek out the lesson, get it, understand it and move on. Don’t look back. Just get the lesson and go.

3) Maybe we don’t have the confidence that we will emerge victorous.

Tell youself that I will and I am going to come out of this victorous. Sometimes in situations that look like there is no help, no mercy, no end. You have to become your own cheerleader. You have to will yourself to the finish line even if you don’t see one. Doing this is not a matter of do feel like youycan emerge victorous. IT IS A MATTER OF DO YOU WANT TO EMERGE. You know desperate times calls for desperate measures. So why not become desperate in your moments of trials and tribulations to see yourself win.

4) Maybe the situation is so overwhelming and tramuatizing to us that we can’t seem to shake it.

What I am realizing with my own troubles is that the mind only precieves overwhelming and tramuatization when it loses control over situations and things. In any situation it is common for humans to try to fight fire with fire. You may try to regain auhority by Waring with your situations, but I advise you don’t even try. Your wasting your time. Just let go and let Yahuah (God). Simply put he has the purpose for your life. He has a plan for your life. He knows your end from your beginning. He knows the trials and test that’s going to come your way in life. Lastly, he knows what it’s going to take for you to perservere in life. So who better hands to be in then the heavenly father.

Remember trouble don’t last always
